(rescued from April05) further on sensible measures

...And another factor I had forgotten which would make Chinese goods less competitive will be the inevitable, but long delayed floating of the Chinese currency, the renminbi. This may still be a few years away,...but when combined with other factors, should make the rest of the world's production prices as competitive as they are reality without these effective subsidies Chinese companies gain.
This is alongside the ongoing selling off of state owned enterprises, which can produce at a loss and sell therefore at lower prices than private non-Chinese firms.
Goodness,...I need to get a life and be less serious! Don't worry, I don't spend all day reading economics, I do actually get out and see and enjoy China too. I only get conflicted by the difficulties I see, yet like to think about the big picture and solutions, not problems.
